ADIANS has four categories as follows:
Core Members - Core Members are those Members who are engaged in the aerospace, defence, homeland security space, and ocean technology sectors at the primary and secondary levels and, without restricting the generality of the foregoing include: • OEM’s and Tier 1-4 Members involved in the design and construction of aircraft, ships, guided weapon systems, surveillance systems, satellites and products for the space, security industries, and all related aerospace and defence systems; • Members involved in repair, overhaul, maintenance and retrofit of commercial or military aerospace, defence, space or security related equipment; • Members involved in providing professional services directly relevant to the business of aerospace, defence, space and security including consultancy, government relations, training and e-learning/e-commerce and export related services;
Core Members can serve on the Board of Directors of the Society and have voting privileges at any General Meetings of the Society.
Associate Members - Associate Members are those Members who have a substantive interest in or provide services to Core Members and Associate Members shall have all the rights and privileges of Core Members saving and except that Associate Members cannot serve on the Board of Directors of the Society, except as noted below, and without restricting the generality of the foregoing Associate Members shall include: • Members who are academic, research or educational institutions in Nova Scotia, Canada, and elsewhere who are engaged in aeronautical, aerospace, space and marine research and development; • Members who are Federal, Provincial and Municipal Government departments or agencies involved in economic development activities related to the aerospace, defence, homeland security space and ocean technology related industries. • A supplier of soft services such as marketing, hospitality and public affairs to Core Members ; • A supplier of professional services such as legal or accounting to Core Members; • Members who are representing the business interests of First Nations groups; • A non profit organization who may be interested in the business activities of the Core Members ; • Any other person whose admission as an Associate Member is determined by the Directors to be in the best interest of the Society.
Trade Members - Trade Members are those Members who typically provide services or supplies to the Department of National Defence or any aerospace, defence or related sector companies. Trade Members cannot serve on the Board of Directors of the Society, except as noted below, and do not have voting privileges at General Meetings of the Society. Without restricting the generality of the foregoing Associate Members shall include: • A supplier of material or of a specific nature to Core Members ; • A supplier of services of a specific nature to Core Members ;
Youth/Retired Members - Youth/Retired Members are those Members with interest in the activities of the Society, but who are not associated with any Core Member of the Society. Youth/Retired Members cannot serve on the Board of Directors of the Society, except as noted below, and do not have voting privileges at General Meetings of the Society. Without restricting the generality of the foregoing Associate Members shall include: • A retired person formerly associated with the aerospace, defence, homeland security space and ocean technology industries; • A student currently attending a secondary or post secondary educational institution.
Note: Cross Promotion Members are those Members with interest in the activities of the Society, and are currently associated with another Society. This category is currently under development.
